Former Kansas Commit Marcus Adams Jr. Commits to BYU
Former Kansas Jayhawks commit Marcus Adams Jr. has found another new home in the Big 12 Conference after requesting release from his letter of intent at Kansas. Adams’ recruitment has been one of the most interesting storylines to follow this offseason as the California native elected to leave Gonzaga shortly after committing, before finding his way to BYU.
Adams announced on Twitter that he would be decommitting from the Jayhawks on July 16th, before announcing his commitment to Gonzaga shortly after. Adams was reportedly unhappy in Spokane and reopened his recruitment for a third time this offseason in an effort to find which team best suits his skill set.
Adams is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently ranks as the nation’s 48th-overall prospect. He also checks in as the eighth small forward in the class of 2024 and the 11th-ranked player in the state of California.
The 6-foot-8 prospect from California enrolled at Kansas in June and just one month after making it to Lawrence, Adams decided to hit the portal and commit to Gonzaga. Adams spent roughly the same amount of time with Mark Few at Gonzaga before hopping back into the transfer portal for one last time.
Adams’ commitment to BYU is massive for the Cougars as he becomes the ninth-best basketball recruit to head to Provo in program history. Marcus Adams Jr. and BYU tip off their first season of Big 12 play on November 6th against Houston Christian.
