Baylor’s Monaray Baldwin Calls Out Teammates for Not Playing Hard
The Baylor Bears have had one of the most disappointing seasons in not just the Big 12, but college football, so far this season. And after Saturday night’s 39-14 loss at home to Texas Tech, Monaray Baldwin called out some of his teammates.
Baldwin seemed to be addressing the offense more than the defense, saying, “I feel like people are waiting around and waiting for the next person to make a play… I praise Blake [Shapen] this game because I feel like he played really hard, but I feel like the rest of the team didn’t. I don’t know what it’s going to take but we’re going to have to start playing hard and giving our all every play… people are sitting around waiting for their buddy to make the play, when they need to make the play. You need to treat every play like that… I feel like people are here for the ride and that’s not what we’re here for. We’re here to win games… There’s some growing up we have to do.”
Following a one-sided defeat to Texas Tech, Monaray Baldwin had a pretty blunt assessment about some of the issues facing this Baylor team.

The wide receiver has quickly become of the better players and leaders on this team. The junior was part of the team that won the Big 12 Championship in 2021 and so far this season has broken out in a big way with 17 catches for 404 yards and two touchdowns. On Saturday night he had five grabs for 126 yards and a score.
Baylor is now 2-4 on the season and has a bye week before heading to Cincinnati in Week 8 of the Big 12 football season.
