West Virginia Donor Has ‘No Doubt’ Bob Huggins Should Return

Bob Huggins

Former West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins has been an interesting name to follow throughout the program’s search for a new head basketball coach.

The idea of bringing back Bob Huggins, who resigned after being arrested for DUI last summer, has left fans feeling either extremely against or in favor of it.

West Virginia donor Ike Morris, the Waco Oil & Gas founder, spoke on the situation and voiced his support for Bob Huggins returning to take over the West Virginia Mountaineers basketball program in 2024-25.

Morris spoke on some recent comments from another WVU donor, Ken Kendrick, who was vehemently against the idea of Bob Huggins being hired again in Morgantown.

“Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Kendrick has probably done so much good for the University, but he truly does not know Bob Huggins as well as I do,” Morris said. “There’s a lot of people out there who make mistakes, who have done things they wished they hadn’t done. To say someone can’t redeem themselves, I know Bob Huggins, I’ve seen his charitable work, and I see his love and care for his players. I don’t believe he’s touched a drop of alcohol since the incident.”

Morris continued by saying, The quick fix is Bob Huggins. I have no doubt in my mind that he should return. I just wished there was time to put it to a state vote.”

Despite support from certain members of the West Virginia fanbase, alumni, and donors, a reunion between Bob Huggins and West Virginia is unlikely, with University President Gordon Gee shutting down the idea at every opportunity this offseason.
