Utah Misses Out on 2025 Four-Star IOL Alai Kalaniuvalu

NCAA Football: Southern Utah at Utah

Four-star Class of 2025 prospect Alai Kalaniuvalu chose the Oregon Ducks over Utah, USC, BYU, Michigan, and Nebraska on Wednesday, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The offensive lineman, who is from Provo, Utah, will join Oregon in 2027 after a two-year church mission, according to 247Sports.

He is the 176th-best prospect in his class and is ranked as the ninth-best interior offensive lineman, while the Oregon Ducks have a top-five recruiting class in the 2025 cycle.

In an interview with 247Sports, the future Duck said, “I love what they are building up and the environment. They all have the winning mentality. It’s going to be a great spot the next few years and hopefully we’ll be able to win a national championship.

Utah misses out on the in-state native after finishing 8-5 last season in their last year competing in the Pac-12.

Meanwhile, the Ducks are coming off an impressive run in 2023, going 12-2 with key wins over No. 13 Utah and No. 16 Oregon State. Former Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel transferred to Oregon in December.

To open up the 2024 season, Oregon hosts Idaho on Saturday, Aug. 31, while Utah takes on the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Thursday, Aug. 29.
