While it’s no secret that Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark is an influential man, the Sports Business Journal confirmed that fact by listing Yormark on their recent list of most influential individuals in the sports business.

Since Yormark took over for Bob Bowlsby as Big 12 Commissioner, the Big 12 has added several nationally relevant teams, climbed the ranks among competitive conferences, and has completely rebranded what it means to be a member of the Big 12 Conference.

The Sports Business Journal spoke on Yormark saying, “In his year-plus on the job, Yormark has established himself as possibly the most creative commissioner among the power conferences. He introduced a new level of music and entertainment to Big 12 Championship events, conceived of a Big 12-only combine, and added some much-needed depth to the membership with expansion. Yormark promised to shake things up across the college landscape and delivered.”

The Big 12 Conference has officially hit its stride under Brett Yormark as the league is more stable than ever thanks to the additions of BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF, paired with the Four Corner schools Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah who are all set to join the league in the summer of 2024.

While Yormark may or may not be a fan of the praise he’s been greeted with for the spectacular job of running the league, the Sports Business Journal made the right choice in choosing a prestigious person like Brett Yormark.
