Texas Lands Former AAC Defensive Player of the Year Trey Moore in Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Texas at West Virginia

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns just made a major splash in the transfer portal with the addition of former AAC Defensive Player of the Year and UTSA edge rusher Trey Moore.

The Texas native earned AAC DPOY honors as a sophomore in 2023 where he recorded 45 total tackles, 14 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception for UTSA.

Moore was one of the biggest names to hit the portal this offseason and will now head to Austin as a member of the Texas Longhorns. In two seasons with UTSA, Moore totaled 101 tackles, 22 sacks, three forced fumbles, one interception, and eight pass breakups.

Coming out of high school, Moore was listed as an unranked prospect by the 247Sports index, but after improving his stock drastically as a Road Runner, he was given the title of a four-star prospect in the transfer portal. He is graded as the 12th-ranked player available in the transfer portal, and the third-ranked player at his position.

Trey Moore became Texas’ third addition through the transfer portal this offseason, and while the addition of Moore is massive for the future of the Texas Longhorns, Steve Sarkisian’s bunch has to remain focused on the task at hand. Moore and the rest of the Longhorns’ future members will have a chance to watch their new team take the field on Monday, January 1st against the Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl.
