Utah Four-Year Starting DB JaTravis Broughton Enters Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Southern Utah at Utah

With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.

According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Utah defensive back JaTravis Broughton is entering the transfer portal after spending five years on the Utes starting roster.

Broughton was a reliable part of Kyle Whittingham’s defense in 2023 totaling 37 tackles and two pass breakups. Throughout his five-year career in Salt Lake City, Broughton totaled 126 tackles, nine pass breakups, one sack, and one interception.

Coming out of high school Broughton was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 837th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 74th-ranked linebacker in his class and the 10th-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.

Utah will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season, but with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, Kyle Whittingham should have some options available for replacement.
