Former East Carolina forward Ezra Ausar committed to play for the Utah Utes after two seasons with the Pirates.
247Sports ranks Ausar as a four-star prospect and the No. 20 overall player at his position.
With Branden Carlson’s Utah career coming to a close, Ausar will have a big role for the Utes next season. Carlson led the team in points (17.0) and rebounds (6.6) per game last season.
As a sophomore, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 11.4 points and 4.7 rebounds, while shooting 51.4% from the field and 37.5% from three.
In a win over Tulsa on March 14, Ausar went off for a career-high 28 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds. He scored 20 or more points in three games last year.
Utah Head Coach Craig Smith has been very active in the transfer portal this Spring with commitments from Zach Keller (Wake Forest), Miro Little (Baylor), Keanu Dawes (Rice), and Mason Madsen (Boston College).
The Utes will be playing in the Big 12 Conference next season, making the shift from the Pac 12. Last year, the crew finished 22-15, placing fifth in the league, with the season coming to a finish in the semi final round of the NIT in a loss to Indiana State.
