According to a recent update from ESPN’s Football Power Index, two teams from the Sunflower State have the best odds to win the Big 12 Conference in 2024.
Kansas headlined the list of Big 12 title odds with a 17.4% chance, followed by the Kansas State Wildcats with a 16% chance.
Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks earned the top spot on the list, and if they can avoid dealing with the injury bug at key positions, they have a shot at earning a trip to Arlington. The team returns a chunk of production on offense, including former Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year Jalon Daniels, a stellar running back tandem of Devin Neal and Daniel Highshaw, as well as some remarkable receivers.
Kansas State enters the 2024 season with a new quarterback under center following Will Howard’s departure to Ohio State. Despite Howard’s decision to transfer, the Wildcats are in capable hands with sophomore quarterback Avery Johnson, who is currently listed with top-ten odds to win the Heisman Trophy from multiple sportsbooks.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the rankings comes with Utah receiving the fifth-best odds to win the league despite offseason narratives among the fanbase expecting Utah to dominate the rest of the conference.
