UCF Knights Men’s Basketball 2023-24 Offseason Roster Tracker

The UCF Knights are working on assembling their 2023-24 men’s basketball roster and we’ll track every move here throughout the offseason.

Departures

F Michael Durr: The fifth-year player would appear to be out of eligibility as he used his COVID year in 2022-23. He was a starter and averaged 5.5 points and 4.6 rebounds after transferring in from Indiana.

 

G P.J. Edwards: Edwards played in 19 games as a redshirt freshman and opted to transfer to Bowling Green after the season.

G Tyem Freeman: He played in 26 games, made one start and averaged 3.4 points per game. After the season he opted to transfer to Kent State.

F Taylor Hendricks: The Knights’ leading scorer declared for the NBA Draft after his freshman season and surrendered his remaining eligibility. He could be a first-round pick after averaging 15.1 points last season.

G C.J. Kelly: He would appear to be out of eligibility after playing his fifth season of college basketball. Kelly had a great season, averaging 13.3 points after transferring in from UMass.

G/F Brandon Suggs: He played in 32 games and made eight starts for the Knights, finishing as its fifth-leading scorer with 6.6 points per game. He opted to transfer to New Mexico State after the season.

F Lahat Thioune: He played in 34 games and made 10 starts for the Knights but didn’t make much of an impact in the stat sheet with just 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. After the season he transferred to South Dakota.

G Jayhlon Young: He played in 33 games and started 12 of them, as he averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds last season. He transferred to Memphis after the season.

 

Arrivals Via Transfer

G Shermarri Allen (from Kansas City): Allen, a 6-foot-4 guard, averaged 17.0 points per game and scored 20 or more points 10 times last season with UMKC.

G Antwann Jones (from Louisiana): The guard is from Orlando, Fla., so the transfer is a homecoming for the little-used Ragin’ Cajun. The transfer has been reported but not officially announced.

G Omar Payne (from Wichita State): Payne spent last season with Jacksonville, posting a career-high mark in points per game. Prior to the 2022-23 season, Payne spent a season with Illinois and two with Florida.

G Jaylin Sellers (from Ball State): He averaged 13.5 points last season for Ball State. His transfer to UCF is not officially announced, but the Orlando Sentinel reported it in late May.

G Jaykwon Walton (from Wichita State): Walton, a 6-foot-7 guard, averaged 13.9 points per game last season which led Wichita State in scoring.

 

Expected to Return

G Ithiel Horton: He had a great season for the Knights in 2022-23, averaging 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals. He entered the NBA Draft and retained his eligibility. He opted to return to the Knights for another season.

G Tyler Hendricks: He redshirted last season as a freshman. He is the brother of Taylor Hendricks.

G Darius Johnson: The Knights will need his offense next season. Johnson averaged 10 points per game last season.

G Michael Kalina: He redshirted last season as a freshman.

G Charlie May: He redshirted last season as a freshman.

F Thierno Sylla: He played 27 games as a freshman off the bench, averaging 2.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

F C.J. Walker: He missed most of last season with injuries and should return next season.

G Poohpha Warakulnukroh: He played in just seven games in his freshman season.

Class of 2023 Signees

F Comeh Emuobor, 6-foot-5, Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH): The three-star guard was considered a Top 200 player by 247Sports in its final national rankings.
