2024 Four-Star RB Stacy Gage Commits to UCF
The UCF Knights made a big splash in the class of 2024 with the commitment of the talented four-star running back Stacy Gage from Florida.
Gage announced his decision via Instagram live stream, and after saying his thanks and appreciation for his friends, family, coaches, and supporters, he announced that he would be headed to Orlando to team up with UCF head coach Gus Malzahn in the Big 12.
Gage is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and is currently ranked as the 225th player in the nation. He also checks in as the 17th-ranked running back in the class of 2024 as well as the 34th-ranked prospect in the state of Florida.
Director of scouting Andrew Ivins spoke on the talented back saying that Gage is, “A thicker, tempo-based runner with adequate burst and plenty of power. Quickly processes what’s in front of him and has a knack for finding yardage even when the blocking isn’t there. The short-stepping run style allows him to shake would-be tacklers while a well-timed spin move makes a threat to score anytime he reaches the second level. Tends to always fall forward, which seems to be a byproduct of his natural forward lean and impressive leg drive. Will be at his third high school in four years having transferred from IMG Academy to Tampa Wharton and then eventually St. Thomas Aquinas. Averaged 5.1 yards per carry as a junior, totaling 704 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Might not have any impressive track times on record, but posted a respectable 40-yard dash time as a 10th grader and can eventually get going down the sidelines. Should be viewed as a physical running back that will fight for yardage in between the tackles. Needs to keep improving as a pass blocker, but the build suggests that he can chip large pass rushers and help protect the quarterback. Could thrive in a change-of-pace role in a modern pro-style attack.”
Head coach Gus Malzahn continues to show his ability to recruit top prospects with Stacy Gage, and with the Knights headed to the Big 12 Conference in 2023, the addition of Gage is a big one for the future of the team.
