Watch: Keyontae Johnson Shaking Hands With Former Florida Teammates is Awesome
Typically, when a player in any sport faces his former team, there’s usually some bad blood between the two sides. But that was not the case on Saturday when Kansas State hosted Florida in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.
By now, the story of Keyontae Johson is well documented. Johnson was a star at Florida, but his story took a turn when he collapsed on the court during a game, which led to him sitting out of basketball for the next two years until he was cleared medically to play.
Johnson then decided to transfer to Kansas State and team up with guard Markquise Nowell and join Jerome Tang’s debut season in Manhattan. However, despite leaving the Gators, there is still lots of love between these two sides. Take a look at the handshake line between Johnson and his former teammates after K-State beat Florida on Saturday.
Johnson had a double-double against his former team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. K-State improved to 18-3 and bounced back from last week’s loss at Iowa State. This was one of seven Big 12 wins on Saturday as the league took the final Big 12-SEC Challenge by a 7-3 margin.
The Cats are back at it on Tuesday when they travel to Allen Fieldhouse to take on the Jayhawks just a couple weeks after upsetting KU in Manhattan.
