The Big 12-SEC Challenge ended a 10-year run on Saturday with the Big 12 Conference winning seven of the 10 match ups.
The day started off with West Virginia pulling off the upset against No. 15 Auburn 80-77. But then, Oklahoma topped WVU’s performance with an upset of No. 2 Alabama in impressive fashion 93-69 in Norman. In one of the least-compelling match ups, Texas Tech got by LSU 76-68. The Big 12 then was on the receiving end of an upset with No. 12 Iowa State losing to Missouri 78-61.
TCU also came up short on and off the court, losing to Mississippi State 81-74 and losing Mike Miles to a hyperextended knee. He is set to receive an MRI on Sunday. In the final mid-afternoon game, No. 17 Baylor beat Arkansas 67-64.
Of the four night games, the Big 12 won three of these match ups. No. 5 Kansas State rolled Florida 64-50, as Keyontae Johnson put up a double-double against his former team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. No. 4 Tennessee held off No. 10 Texas in Knoxville 82-71. And in the two latest games, Oklahoma State rolled Ole Miss 82-60 and No. 9 Kansas snapped a three-game slide with a 77-68 win over Kentucky.
