Texas RB Roschon Johnson Breaks Hand at Reese’s Senior Bowl Practice
While the senior bowl is in full swing with drills and practices before the February 4th kickoff, former Texas Longhorns running back Roschon Johnson will not continue with preparation as he has reportedly broken his hand.
The good news for fans is that Johnson’s hand will not require surgery, however, Johnson will be inactive for the 2023 Senior Bowl. On Wednesday morning, ESPN’s Pete Thamel provided the update on Johnson’s status.
Johnson injured his hand on Tuesday and continued to practice through the injury but was spotted wincing and protecting his hand as much as possible, Johnson met with a team of doctors following the conclusion of practice and it was confirmed that he had broken a bone in his hand.
Johnson’s hand will not require surgery, a source told ESPN, and plans to stay at the senior bowl for the rest of the week to meet with NFL teams and discuss future possibilities. Johnson was the second-hand to the Bijan Robinson at Texas but in his career in Austin still had some flash plays.
Johnson rushed for 2,190 yards and 26 total touchdowns for the Longhorns and is hoping to find his way onto an NFL roster. While Johnson’s hand is a setback for his NFL career, Johnson provides some dual-threat capabilities in both the rushing and receiving game that will likely give him a chance to land somewhere.
