Report: UCF Basketball to Host Jacksonville in 2024-25 Non-Con Matchup

The UCF men’s basketball team is set to take on the Jacksonville Dolphins in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, Dec. 21, per Jon Rothstein.

Central Florida went 17-16 in its first season competing in the Big 12 Conference last season, meanwhile the Dolphins placed 10th in the Atlantic Sun division with an overall record of 16-17.

Guards Jaylin Sellers (15.9 PPG) and Darius Johnson (15.2 PPG) led the way for the Knights during their junior seasons.

Head Coach Johnny Dawkins made several additions through the transfer portal including Mikey Williams (Memphis), Jordan Ivy-Curry (UTSA), Keyshawn Hall (George Mason), Benny Williams (Syracuse), and JJ Taylor (Memphis).

The squad is looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

Despite Jacksonville’s struggles, guard Robert McCray V had a strong sophomore campaign with season averages of 18.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. The 6-foot-4 point guard ranked 50th in the country in scoring.

This matchup will mark the fourth time ever these teams have played against each other, with UCF leading the all time series 3-0.

The last battle between these two teams was on Dec. 6, 2023 with the Knights coming out on top, 94-52.
