Watching it happen: After record-setting junior year, Ryan Bustin has spent most of the season on the sidelines

Ryan Bustin almost forgot what it felt like.

The Texas Tech kicker, who had set the single-season record for field goals (23) a year prior, has hardly made it off the sideline this season.

Saturday against West Virginia, he made two field goals — both under 30 yards. The distance didn’t matter. Bustin was happy to be back on the field, contributing for the Red Raiders.

Despite being perfectly healthy, the senior had not attempted a field goal in three games, instead he chipped in where he could, making extra point after extra point.
