Texas Tech’s season has always banked on Davis Webb’s development and health.
The Red Raiders have not benefited from either, though.
For the second time this season, Webb left the game with an injury, hurting his left ankle with 10:42 remaining in the third quarter of Saturday afternoon’s 82-27 loss at TCU.
He left the field on crutches minutes after Horned Frogs defensive end Mike Tuaua landed on Webb’s leg following a pass attempt. And despite all of the fans’ calls to start true freshman Patrick Mahomes over Webb anyway — the sophomore has thrown 13 interceptions — the one thing Tech could least afford after the transfers of Baker Mayfield and Michael Brewer is Webb being out with an injury.
Red Raiders coach Kliff Kingsbury said after the loss to TCU that he isn’t sure of Webb’s status.
