Texas Tech has looked lackluster in back-to-back wins to open the season, and it can ill afford another performance again this weekend.
The Red Raiders host Arkansas at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, their first regular-season game against an SEC opponent since 2003 (a 49-45 win at Mississippi, which also marked the last time Tech played a power-conference team in the regular season).
Here’s a quick scouting report of the Razorbacks:
Record: 1-1 (0-1 in SEC play)
Last: Beat Nicholls State, 73-7
Key number: 25. The number of passing touchdowns allowed last year by the Hogs, which were second to last in the SEC in that category.
Offense: Multiple
Defense: 4-3

Arkansas is coming off back-to-back losing seasons (4-8 in 2012 and 3-9 in 2013), as it works to shake off the effects of the Bobby Petrino scandal. The Hogs went winless in the SEC last year for the first time since their inaugural season in 1992. Last week’s 73-7 win over Nicholls State snapped a program-worst 10-game losing streak.
