Texas Tech to Induct Mike Leach into School Hall of Honors in September: Report
According to a report from FOX’s Bruce Feldman, Texas Tech plans to induct the late Mike Leach into its Hall of Honors as well as Red Raiders’ legend Kliff Kingsbury into its Hall of Fame in September.
Leach, who passed away last December, is Texas Tech’s all-time winningest football coach and has left countless impacts on sport of football during his time at Texas Tech, Washington State, and Mississippi State.
During his time in Lubbock, Leach never had a losing season at Texas Tech and held an 84-43 overall record and 6-4 record in bowl games. In 2008, Leach led the Red Raiders to an 11-2 overall record and a 12th-place finish in the AP poll, its highest final ranking since 1973.
Leach went on to be the head coach at Washington State (2012-2019) and Mississippi State (2020-2022) before tragically passing at the age of 61.
Kingsbury is currently on staff at USC as a senior offensive analyst and quarterbacks coach, but spend 2013-18 at Texas Tech as a head coach and was a quarterback for the Red Raiders from 1998-2002.
During his time as a player, Kingsbury was a three-time All-Big 12 selection, including a first-team selection in 2002 as well as the Sammy Baugh Award and the AP National Offensive Player of the Year in the same year.
While the announcement hasn’t been made by the university just yet, it’s expected that each coach will be honored during a home football game in the month of September with details to be released at a later date.
