But both units lost a wheel.
Leading receiver Josh Doctson left on crutches because of a foot injury, and safety Chris Hackett was ejected for fighting in the Horned Frogs’ 82-27 victory against Texas Tech — likely leaving them without both players for at least the start of next week’s game at West Virginia.
Doctson, who caught two touchdown passes in the first half, appeared to have his right foot or ankle turned under a tackle on a catch for a first and goal in the third quarter. He went to the locker room on crutches. Hackett was called for punching on the Tech sideline following Sam Carter’s interception for TCU late in the third quarter. The ejection, occurring in the second half, means the junior weak safety will have to sit out the first half of next week’s game against the Mountaineers. It could be a critical position to be missing a starter, even for a half. West Virginia’s Clint Trickett is one of the Big 12’s top passers, and the Horned Frogs struggled in the secondary in the first half Saturday against Tech.
