Kliff Kingsbury Listed as ‘Serious Candidate’ for Commanders OC Job
Former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury has had a busy day.
After reports circled on Saturday morning that Kingsbury was in line to be named the new offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders, Kingsbury removed his name before being linked to the offensive coordinator job in Washington.
Talks with the Raiders reportedly stalled during contract talks that ended the possibility of Kingsbury joining Antonio Pierce’s staff in Las Vegas.
Kingsbury has occupied a number of different jobs since leaving Texas Tech in 2018 and was most recently on staff with Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans where he served as the team’s quarterbacks coach and as a senior offensive analyst.
While things in Vegas have stalled, talks surrounding Kingsbury joining new Washington Commanders Head Coach Dan Quinn have picked up. Kingsbury has a wealth of experience working with top quarterbacks over the past few seasons including the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams, the presumed No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Kingsbury went 35-40 during his six season as head coach of his alma mater Texas Tech, and then went 28-37-1 as the Arizona Cardinals head coach, before being fired after the 2022 season.
