West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene silenced all doubters during his junior season, leading the Mountaineers to a 9-4 record.
Through the air, Greene threw for 2,406 passing yards and 16 touchdowns while only having four interceptions. The dual-threat QB logged 772 yards through the ground game, as well as 13 rushing touchdowns.
Head coach Neal Brown has high expectations for Greene heading into his senior season, referring to him as “one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country.”
“A lot returning from a group that won nine games and finished off with a big win against North Carolina,” Brown added. “We’ve got a challenging schedule, opening up against Penn State.
Greene is surrounded by a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball, including running back Jahiem White, who finished with 842 yards last season. His best performance came in a win against Cincinnati when the 5-foot-7 RB rushed for 204 yards and one touchdown.
“He (White) finished the year off really strong, and he’s only going to be a sophomore,” Brown mentioned. “I think he’s ready to take the next step and really be a premier player.
After WVU lost its season opener in 2023 to Penn State, the team will have an opportunity for revenge on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 12 p.m. EST, as the Nittany Lions will travel to Morgantown in a rematch.
