TCU QB Josh Hoover Focused on Leadership Ahead of Sophomore Season
While TCU fans may have expected Chandler Morris to be the guy throughout the 2023 college football season, redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Hoover stepped up and earned the starting job in Ft. Worth.
Hoover spoke to media members for the first time this offseason and expressed his desire to emerge as a leader in the TCU locker room.
“You have to be aware of your surroundings, and you have to have the courage to say things that are hard,” Hoover said. “That’s part of being a leader; it’s not always easy to be a leader. If it was, everyone would be one. I think when guys understand where you’re coming from, and they have that respect for you, they get it when you say something to them. You don’t have to call guys out, but you have to have conversations, and sometimes they’re hard conversations.”
Hoover had some up-and-down moments in his first season as TCU’s starter, throwing for 2,206 yards and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 15-9. While Hoover experienced games like the BYU game, where he recorded 439 yards and four touchdowns, he also had his fair share of challenging performances.
Hoover continued, saying, “That has to happen to have a good team and be successful. We all have some things from last year that we want to address, and it’s getting addressed.”
Josh Hoover and the Horned Frogs will have an opportunity to right some wrongs from the previous season when they take the field for the first time in 2024 on Friday, August 30th, against Stanford.
