Max Duggan Equates His Game to Eagles’ Jalen Hurts
Being anything like Jalen Hurts these days is nothing but a good thing. And former TCU star Max Duggan sees Hurts as the quarterback he plays the most like, he told reporters Friday at the NFL Combine.
Duggan mentioned it in recent days, too, while joining The Rich Eisen Show. That’s after he was asked exactly who he models his game after.
“A guy that I’ve watched a lot even lately was Joe Burrow, what he does with his movement and efficient movements and how he is in the pocket,” Duggan said. “I don’t know if I’d say I play like him, probably someone I kind of play like would probably be like Jalen Hurts, kind of that tough-minded leader, can make the throws any time. Can lead a group of men, fought through adversity, things of that sort.”
Taking the Horned Frogs all the way to the College Football Playoff National Championship, Duggan finished an incredible final season with 3,698 passing yards and 32 touchdowns to only eight interceptions. He also rushed for 423 yards and nine scores on 137 carries, gashing opponents both through the air and on the ground.
With all that production, Duggan won both the Davey O’Brien Award and finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up.
Over the course of his career, Duggan completed 739-of-1,225 passes (60.3%) for more than 9,600 yards and 73 touchdowns to only 28 interceptions. He carried a total of 488 times for 1,856 yards and 28 scores.
Duggan now embarks upon his quest to carve out an NFL career. He’s seen anywhere as a mid-round to late-round selection come this April’s NFL Draft in Kansas City.
