OSU Sports: Ultimately, a really expensive pillow fight

After conducting a 10-month investigation of the Oklahoma State football program – a process that, presumably, required the spending of tens of thousands of dollars – Sports Illustrated published its “Dirty Game” series in September 2013.

Oklahoma State countered by hiring Chuck Smrt, a former NCAA enforcement director who became the lead figure in the university’s internal investigation – a 13-month job that cost slightly more than $220,000.

On Tuesday, a statement issued jointly by Oklahoma State and the NCAA indicated that Sports Illustrated’s allegations of misconduct by the Cowboy football program were “fundamentally unfounded.”
