Sports Illustrated rocked Oklahoma State University a year ago with serious and scandalous allegations aimed at its football program.
The university, in conjunction with the NCAA, fired back Tuesday with the equivalent of a double-barreled response:
“Fundamentally unfounded.”
Those words – fundamentally unfounded – highlight a joint statement released by the school and the NCAA Enforcement Staff in addressing their own investigations into the allegations purported by SI in its five-part series “The Dirty Game,” which debuted Sept. 13, 2013 and spanned 14 days of online or print coverage.
The magazine reported widespread abuses within the program ranging from paying players to rampant drug use to academic improprieties to delivering sexual favors to recruits.
