Oklahoma State announced on Tuesday that the football team has now sold out five of its six home games this season.
The program made the announcement on X, which will come as a shocker to Oklahoma fans who insisted that the Cowboys only sold out Bedlam games and Texas games.
Oops.
Oklahoma State’s home schedule includes match ups with South Dakota State (Aug. 31), Utah (Sep. 21), West Virginia (Oct. 5), Arizona State (Nov. 2) and Texas Tech (Nov. 23).
The game against Utah is a can’t-miss Big 12 match up (that I am considering traveling to, so stay tuned to the Heartland College Sports forums for more details), but other than West Virginia, there isn’t an obvious contender on the home slate this season.
Considering Oklahoma Sooners fans spent the last couple of years insisting that Boone Pickens Stadium would be empty without the presence of their program, along with the Longhorns, they’ve already been proven wrong, which is really nothing new.
And whichever the sixth game of the season is that remains unsold, I would expect that to happen sooner than later. The Cowboys were picked third in the Big 12 Preseason Poll, and have an excellent chance to find themselves in Arlington for the Big 12 Championship Game come December.
In fact, there’s a better chance the Pokes are playing for a guaranteed spot in the College Football Playoff than the Sooners. That will certainly get OU fans worked up, which will result in them being on the couch chanting, “S-E-C! S-E-C!”.
