Oklahoma State Football Just Accomplished a Program First

Syndication: The Oklahoman

One day after Oklahoma State football announced it had sold out five of its six home games, the Cowboys have officially sold out every home game at Boone Pickens Stadium before the season begins for the first time in program history, according to Brett McMurphy.

Oklahoma State went on to confirm the sellout on social media.

Boone Pickens Stadium has a capacity of 52,855.

Oklahoma State sold out all its home games in 2023, but this is the first time it has happened prior to the start of the season.

Oklahoma Stateā€™s home schedule includes match ups with South Dakota State (Aug. 31), Utah (Sep. 21), West Virginia (Oct. 5), Arizona State (Nov. 2) and Texas Tech (Nov. 23).

Realted: Is the Big 12 Headed for the Most Competitive Season in College Football History?

The game against Utah is a canā€™t-miss Big 12 match up (that I am considering traveling to, so stay tuned to the Heartland College Sports forums for more details), but other than West Virginia, there isnā€™t an obvious contender on the home slate this season.

The Cowboys reached the Big 12 Championship Game in 2023 for the second time in the last three seasons. This time, theĀ Cowboys fell to the Texas Longhorns, 49-21, as the Longhorns won the Big 12 and reached the College Football Playoff for the first time. The Cowboys went on to beat Texas A&M in theĀ Texas BowlĀ to wrap up a 10-4 season.

Heading into this season, expectations are once again high for the Pokes, which expectations that this team can get to the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, Texas.

The Cowboys have so much experience at key positions, starting with reigningĀ Doak Walker AwardĀ winner and running backĀ Ollie Gordon II. He rushed for 1,732 yards a year ago, which led the nation. Gordon opted to return for another year and the Cowboys will benefit. Quarterback Alan Bowman, who is entering his seventh season of college football, returns too, along with wide receivers Brennan Presley and Rashod Owens.

Oklahoma State opens its 2024 season at Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday, August 31st against South Dakota State with kick off at 1:00 p.m. CT.
