The Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to Manhattan, Kansas on Saturday to face the No. 23 Kansas State Wildcats.
Both teams will be looking for an important win to improve their chances at a Big 12 title. It’s a match up that originally dates back to 1933 when the teams first met. The Wildcats will be gunning for their fourth straight win against the Red Raiders. Despite success for the Wildcats in recent years, Tech leads the all-time series 8-6.
K-State is coming off a dominating performance against the UTEP Miners. The Wildcat defense managed to shutout the Miners in the first half. UTEP came into the game with one of the most successful run games in the nation but the Wildcats proved to be a challenge for the Miners, only giving up 59 rushing yards.
The K-State offense provided an impressive performance as well, highlighted by senior quarterback Jake Waters. Waters and the Wildcats racked up 451 yards of total offense while putting up 58 points against the Miners.
The Red Raiders are coming off a loss at the hands of Big 12 foe Oklahoma State. The Tech offense managed to put up points but fell short down the stretch. Sophomore quarterback Davis Webb had a strong showing as he threw for 374 yards along with 4 touchdown passes. Webb was forced to leave the game in the fourth quarter with an injury.
Tech wide receivers Jakeem Grant and Bradley Marquez both rank in the top 5 for Big 12 receiving yards this season. Running back DeAndre Washington also ranks in the Big 12 top 5 for rushing yards.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
