High rolling: TCU, Boykin make their case again with 41-20 thumping of Kansas State

On the national stage, the TCU Horned Frogs got a chance to have their moment.

Naturally, Trevone Boykin delivered it, like he has all season.

The once-Heisman hopeful quarterback, his chances dampened by a subpar performance a week ago, soared like a rocket into the end zone, flipped, got hit and landed on his back for six points — a signature play in what appears to be turning into a signature season for TCU.

Boykin’s high-flying moment, along with his 335 total yards and four touchdowns rushing and passing, helped him and the No. 6 Horned Frogs make another convincing case Saturday night with a 41-20 victory against No. 7 Kansas State in front of the third-biggest crowd at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

With a national audience watching the first matchup of top-10 teams in Fort Worth since 1935, and with third-ranked Auburn’s loss earlier in the day, the completeness of the victory had to make a positive impression on the College Football Playoff rankings committee.
