Usually leaving laundry on the field makes for upset players and coaches. In E.J. Bibbs’ case Saturday, it just left everyone in awe.
The Iowa State tight end’s 5-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter of the Cyclones’ 37-30 win over Toledo featured Bibbs’ running through a tackle that left his jersey ripped, with a piece falling to the turf as he tumbled into the end zone.
“He’s a man is what it showed me,” ISU coach Paul Rhoads said of the play. “That’s what I told him when he came off the field. I wish he wouldn’t have let (the defender) tear his jersey and scare the heck out of me like there was a flag down that was undoubtedly going to be on us on a play like that. That was a big-time run.
