Kansas State Receiving $2.2M for Ireland Farmageddon Game
On Wednesday, the schools announced that Farmageddon will be played in 2025, and for the first time ever, K-State and ISU will face off on foreign soil.
The game will be the first-ever Big 12 matchup in Ireland and just the 10th college football game ever played in the country.
According to a report from the Manhattan Mercury’s Tim Everson, Kansas State will receive a large payout in addition to the experience.
Everson noted in his article that the Wildcats’ athletic department would receive a substantial payout of 2.25 million dollars for the event.
Kansas State Athletic Director Gene Taylor discussed the event’s perks and the worldwide spotlight it brings to both Kansas State and the Big 12 Conference, saying, “It’s huge. I think the lead-up will be huge, too. I don’t know who will carry it, ESPN or Fox, but I’m sure they’ll build it up quite a bit for pretty much the whole month of August.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to be chosen to play in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic,” K-State head coach Chris Klieman said. “Our players and staff are excited to expose our program to a global audience, and the cultural experience will also be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all of Wildcat Nation. We appreciate our administration and the Aer Lingus Classic team for making this tremendous experience possible.”
The Wildcats and Cyclones have met a total of 107 times consecutively, making the series between Kansas State and Iowa State one of the most historical rivalries in college football.
As of 2023, the Cyclones hold the all-time series advantage, 53-50-4, after winning three of the last four meetings.
The two teams will face off in Ames on November 30, 2024.
