Iowa State’s running backs have done precious little running this season. Aaron Wimberly and DeVondrick Nealy have yet to make a significant impact on the ground this season, a trend that continued Saturday in the Cyclones’ 49-28 loss to No. 6 Baylor on Saturday.
ISU has received hardly any production out of their backfield, with Wimberly and Nealy combining for 192 yards this season with a paltry yards-per-carry mark of 2.95.
“It’s a big concern because there is no running attack,” ISU coach Paul Rhoads said.
It was as bad as it’s been all season against the Bears. The Cyclones’ running game never threatened to break a long run with the backs.
