Brock Purdy Breaks 49ers Single Season Passing Yards Franchise Record

NFL: NFC Divisional Round-Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers

While former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy has gotten a lot of flack from NFL fans about his ability to throw the football down the field, Purdy proved his doubters wrong by breaking the San Francisco 49ers franchise record for most passing yards in a single season.

Purdy accomplished the feat in Sunday’s 27-10 win over Washington where Purdy’s season numbers climbed to 4280 yards breaking the previous record set by Jeff Garcia at 4278.

Purdy finished off Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders by going 22-28 for 230 yards and two scores. The outing brought Purdy’s season total to 4280 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 33-11.

After being selected as the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has been special throughout his young career. The Arizona native has led the 49ers to a 12-4 record in his second season at the helm and also has his team ranked as the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Coming out of high school Purdy was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 839th-ranked player. He was also listed as the 36th-ranked quarterback in his class and the 12th-ranked player in the state of Arizona.

The former three-star turned his opportunity in Ames into a successful career at Iowa State and would eventually go on to become the face of the San Francisco 49ers franchise.
