Watch: Brock Purdy Discusses the Big 12’s Impact on NFL
With the Big 12 Conference continuing to expand its reach at the professional level with players like Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes facing off in Super Bowl 58, both quarterbacks were asked to reflect on their time in the Big 12.
Former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy reminisced on his time in the league saying, “Playing in the Big 12 was awesome for me, I was able to live out my lifelong dream of playing Power 5 football in the Big 12 Conference.”
Purdy continued by saying, “For me, there was nothing better. I’m always going to be appreciative of what the Big 12 has done for me, giving me the platform to go and play. I mean obviously being able to play Patrick in the Super Bowl with him representing Texas Tech, I just think it’s all pretty sweet so I’m very proud.”
Purdy and the 49ers will face off against Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 58 with a chance to keep the Chiefs from becoming the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots accomplished the feat in 2003 and 2004.
While Purdy and Mahomes narrowly missed out on playing each other in college, the matchup between the former Cyclone and Red Raider will be a site to see for fans of the Big 12 Conference, and football fans everywhere.
