Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks are entering the 2024 college football season with serious Big 12 title aspirations, and if they can achieve that, a college football playoff bid to boot.
College Football Kings added some fuel to the fire on X by sharing some updated odds from ESPN’s FPI that awarded the Jayhawks with the best chance of any Big 12 team to go undefeated in 2024.
7nbsp;In addition to receiving the best Big 12 odds to go undefeated, ESPN’s Football Power Index listed the Jayhawks with the best percentage to win the Big 12 Conference in 2024. While Kansas had been plagued with the injury bug at key positions during Leipold’s time in Lawrence, if they can avoid similar setbacks with their star players in the fall, the team has a major shot at earning a trip to Arlington.
Kansas returns a chunk of production on offense, including former Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year Jalon Daniels, a stellar running back tandem of Devin Neal and Daniel Highshaw, and their top three receivers from the previous season (Lawrence Arnold, Quentin Skinner, and Luke Grimm).
The team is dealing with some turnover on the offensive line and on the defensive side of the ball, losing key players like Dominic Puni, Austin Booker, Kenny Logan, and Rich Miller to the NFL. However, Kansas has done a solid job recruiting players like Dakyus Brinkley, Deshawn Warner, Carter Lavrusky, Demani Maxwell, and more to fill the roles of the departures.
While the Jayhawks will have to overcome some impressive teams like Kansas State, West Virginia, Iowa State, and more, it’s safe to say that Lance Leipold has put the team in a position to compete for a Big 12 title in the upcoming season.
