Houston Football Lands Elite 2026 ATH Keisean Henderson
Houston football has an excellent start to its 2026 recruiting class after landing elite athlete Keisean Henderson over several other offers.
Henderson, listed at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds, is ranked as the No. 1 ATH and the No. 19 overall player in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.
The Cougars earned Henderson’s commitment over several of the top recruiting programs in the nation, such as Oklahoma, LSU, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, and Oregon.
While Henderson is a top-tier two-way athlete, he is expected to play quarterback at the next level and is a pivotal recruiting win for Willie Fritz and the Coogs.
“It’s a big family there,” Henderson told 247Sports. “I get to stay home. All of the coaches there were already recruiting me from the schools they were at before, too. I have a great relationship with Coach Fritz and Coach Bell.
“Coach Bell offered me at Baylor and gave me the first opportunity to play quarterback,” continued Henderson. “Coach Fritz and I have a great relationship too. My head coach, funny story, coach Fritz was actually the first person that put him on the map when they were at Blinn. Seeing how he treated my coach, Coach Bishop, in the past really meant a lot to me.”
In an evaluation back in early April, 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks offered high praise for the Houston (TX) product, saying he could project as an NFL pick at several positions in the future.
“Tall, wiry, athletic multi-positional athlete who could play high-major football at quarterback, receiver, or in the secondary. More speed-builder than twitchy burner, which testing data support, but plenty fast enough on the field for any of the aforementioned spots. Displays encouraging redirecting quickness in pads for a longer-levered build. Raw but talented as a passer. Flashes impressive short-to-intermediate velocity and requisite downfield arm strength that should only improve given strength capacity within frame. Physical and athletic traits make for a particularly unique, high-upside prospect if QB is his long-term home. Also competes in track and field and eclipsed 22 feet in the long jump as only a sophomore. Will need to get gain mass/strength and hone technical nuances regardless of alignment, but represents an ultra-talented high school football player with high developmental potential as a skill player on either side of the ball, with the possibility of becoming an uncommon QB prospect given fusion of frame/athleticism/playmaking attributes. Long-term trajectory at just about any of the potential positions could lead to NFL Draft consideration.”
As the only player in Houston’s 2026 class, Henderson gives UH the No. 11 class in the country at this point. While there’s still plenty of between now and signing day for 2026, it’s a near perfect start for the Cougars.
