Former Kansas forward Jalen Wilson was awarded NBA G League MVP honors after an impressive run with the Brooklyn Nets.
Wilson, a former second-round pick from Kansas, was named Big 12 Player of the Year as a junior in 2022 after leading the Jayhawks to the NCAA Tournament for the 33rd straight year.
During his five-game stint in Summer League, the Texas native posted some impressive numbers. Wilson averaged 21.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.6 steals while shooting 47.3% from the field and 55.0% from three-point range.
His impressive resume at Kansas led the Brooklyn Nets to select Wilson with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. Wilson saw action in a total of 43 games as a rookie in 2023, averaging five points, three rebounds, and one assist per game on 42.5% shooting from the field and 32.4% from three.
Heading into his sophomore season in the NBA, Wilson appears to be cut out for a much larger role for the Nets. Brooklyn finished off the previous season with a 32-50 record, missing the post-season and signaling a much-needed rebuild. With Wilson stepping into his own as a role player at the next level, Brooklyn could have a rising star on their hands in the near future.
