While it’s no secret that former Colorado quarterback Joel Klatt is high on his former school approaching their first year in the Big 12, Klatt continues to dig his heels in deeper on the Colorado hype train.
Klatt discussed his take on the Joel Klatt Show and mentioned his expectation that the Buffaloes will thrive in 2024.
“Like, this whole time talking about the Big 12, you’re like, ‘Is he going to do it? Is he going to do it? Is he going to do it?’ Damn right, I’m going to do it – Colorado is a dark horse for this thing,” Klatt said. “Like, I would be insane to not put Colorado in there as a dark horse for the Big 12.”
While Klatt is high on the Buffaloes this season, many in the media do not share his belief. Colorado was picked to finish 11th in the Big 12 Preseason Media Poll ahead of the season despite being one of the most bet teams to make the CFP among sports betters.
“This is a team that went from one win to four where they really threw away a couple of other wins, should have been a bowl team last year,” Klatt said. “Everyone is like, ‘Can they go to a bowl?’ Can they go to a bowl?! What are you talking about? Like, this team, I think, is an eight or nine-win team, which puts them in the conversation in a deep, quality league for a potential bid to the Big 12 Championship.”
Klatt finished his thoughts by saying, “I think Colorado has got a chance.”
The Buffaloes will have a chance to prove Klatt right or make him look silly when their season kicks off on Thursday, August 29th, vs. North Dakota State.
