Watch: Dan Lanning’s Epic Pregame Speech Before Colorado Game

The Oregon Ducks had some extra juice heading into their Week 4 matchup against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, with head coach Dan Lanning delivering one of the best pregame speeches of the season.
Lanning got things started in the locker room early for the Ducks challenging players to rise to the task by saying, “Rooted in substance, not flash. The Cinderella story is over. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins. There’s a difference.”
Lanning’s full comments read, “Rooted in substance, not flash. Today, you talk with your pads, you talk with your helmet. Every moment. The Cinderella story is over. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins. There’s a difference. This game ain’t going to be played in Hollywood, it’s going to be played on the grass.”
To say Lanning’s message worked would be a massive understatement as his squad jumped all over Sanders’ squad in the first half heading into the locker room for the halftime break with a convincing 35-0 lead.
Oregon put up an outstanding number of total offense with 378 yards in the first half alone. The team nearly doubled that of Sanders’ squad with 47 total plays run to the Buffaloes 24, and more than double the time of possession with 20:47 compared to 9:13 for the Buffs.
Dan Lanning’s comments had the squad ready to take down any team in the country on Saturday as they solidified their spot in the top 10. While Sanders’ squad did head to Eugene as 21-point underdogs, Oregon took it to the Buffs and made things personal in the first half of action. Colorado looks ahead to Week 5 where they are set to take on the fifth-ranked USC Trojans.
