Former LSU Edge Quency Wiggins Transfers to Colorado

NCAA Football: Arizona at Colorado

While the transfer portal provides the opportunity for teams to lose key players through outgoing departures, it also has the ability to help a team bring in key players each offseason.

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes recently added a new name to their squad ahead of the 2024 season with the commitment of former LSU edge rusher Quency Wiggins.

Despite Wiggins not seeing the field a ton in 2023, the former four-star prospect is a massive grab for Sanders and company. Wiggins recorded five tackles as a member of the Tigers, but will now have an opportunity for more playing time in Boulder.

Wiggins spoke to On3’s Hayes Fawcett about the move saying, “I like the coaching staff and the fact they keep it 100. They don’t sugarcoat anything and they treated me like family my whole stay, I love what they are building and the future is bright in Colorado. I wanted to go somewhere where I would be cared for and where I would make the most progress to getting to the league and I feel like Colorado is doing just that. Playing for coach Prime is gonna mean a lot to me and my family. Ultimately my family is happy to see me here and happy.”

Coming out of high school, Wiggins was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 48th-ranked player. He also was listed as the 25th-ranked defensive end in his class and the 25th-ranked player in the state of Texas.

Wiggins, a former top 50 prospect, became the Buffaloes’ 12th addition through the transfer portal this offseason, and with the portal already featuring a record number of players, that number should continue to climb for Deion Sanders’ squad.
