Former Vanderbilt QB Walter Taylor Transfers to Colorado

While the transfer portal provides the opportunity for teams to lose key players through outgoing departures, it also has the ability to help a team bring in key players each offseason.
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes recently added their third player of the day through the transfer portal with the commitment of former Vanderbilt quarterback Walter Taylor.
Despite Walter not seeing the field a ton in 2023, the former three-star prospect adds some much-needed depth for the Buffaloes quarterback room. Taylor finished his sophomore season off by going 5-15 for 44 yards and one interception.
Walter spoke to On3’s Hayes Fawcett about the move saying, “The opportunity to learn from and be developed by one of the best staffs in the country. I’m close with coach Shurmur. The opportunity to sit under an NFL coach with a wealth of knowledge would be an important part of my development.”
Coming out of high school, Walter was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 1527th-ranked player. He also was listed as the 93rd-ranked quarterback in his class and the 63rd-ranked player in the state of Alabama.
Sanders and the Buffaloes have been on a heater on Saturday as Walter became the third player to join the Buffs through the transfer portal this afternoon. With the transfer portal already featuring a record number of entries this offseason, Sanders and company should have more names following closely behind.
