Cincinnati Lands Transfer Forward Jamille Reynolds From Temple
The Cincinnati Bearcats are picking up a skilled big man from the transfer portal with the addition of sophomore forward Jamille Reynolds.
Reynolds spent time with Temple last season where he averaged 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game on 60.4 percent shooting from the field. Reynolds, who is 6-foot-11, would give an interior presence for the Bearcats as they prepare to move to the Big 12 Conference.
The Bearcats will join the Big 12 on July 1 along with BYU, UCF and Houston. Oddly, Reynolds played with UCF before he transferred to Temple. He has two years of eligibility remaining. He joins 6-foot-11 Viktor Lakhin and 6-foot-9 Ody Oguama in the frontcourt. He gives the Bearcats have another big body to clog the lane and grab some rebounds, something that will help out in the competitive Big 12.
Reynolds was also considering Kansas, Mississippi State, South Carolina and going back to UCF. Because Reynolds has transferred twice, he may need a waiver to play next season.
Reynolds’ best game last season came against St. Johns on Nov. 21 when he scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Bearcats, led by coach Wes Miller, had a solid 2022-23 campaign, reaching the NIT quarterfinals before losing to Utah Valley. The Bearcats have lost just one player to the transfer portal to this point, guard Jeremiah Reynolds. But, guard Landers Nolley II has declared for the NBA Draft and is retaining his eligibility.
