Cincinnati Lands Florida Transfer WR Xzavier Henderson
The Cincinnati Bearcats landed a big-time playmaker in the transfer portal with the addition of four-star wide receiver Xzavier Henderson.
Henderson joins the Bearcats after being one of the top targets at Florida over the past three seasons catching passes from first-round NFL Draft pick, Anthony Richardson.
Henderson was a productive member of the wideout room in Gainesville snagging 73 catches for 835 yards, and five touchdowns in his three seasons with the Gators. The Miami native also contributed on special teams, returning both punts and kicks for the Gators which gives Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield another dynamic player to utilize in the open field.
Coming out of high school, Henderson was graded as a four-star recruit by the 247Sports index, as well as the 60th-ranked player nationwide, the 10th-ranked player at his position, and the 11th-ranked player in the state of Florida.
High school scouting analyst John Garcia listed Henderson in his scouting report as a, “Tall, slender, and muscular wide receiver prospect out of Miami who made a massive leap from 2017 through 2018 as an athlete. Legit deep threat with breakaway speed and verified track times to validate. Explosive relative to size short or long distances. Ultra productive in Florida’s highest high school classification with three scores in the state title game. Solid route runner who can be effective on double moves with plus hands. Wide catch radius and can find the football at its apex with good tracking skills and body control. Drives off the line of scrimmage with great lean puts considerable pressure on the defensive back soon after the snap. Effective after the catch with a long stride but not as effective laterally. Will need to add mass and could stand to play more physically before taking over as WR1 at the high-end Power Five program fairly early in college career. Should prove productive on the national stage and turn the overall package into early-round NFL Draft selection down the line.”
After three seasons with the Gators, Henderson joins the Big 12 Conference alongside Scott Satterfield and the Bearcats in their first season of Big 12 play. Henderson has all of the physical traits of an elite wideout at the Division I level, and if he can continue to develop in Cincinnati, the Bearcats’ offense could be a surprise to the leagues’ defensive coordinators.
