Tom Manning Leaves Cincinnati for NFL Job With Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts announced the hiring of former Cincinnati and Iowa State coach, Tom Manning as tight end coach on Monday morning.
Manning alerted the University of Cincinnati of his intensions to leave the program after spending the past two months with the Bearcats as offensive coordinator under Scott Satterfield.
Manning spent time at Iowa State on Matt Campbell’s staff as offensive coordinator before accepting the job at Cincinnati of the same position. Manning’s time with Scott Satterfield was short lived when Manning received word of potential interest from the Indianapolis Colts.
Tom Manning now teams up with the recently hired head coach of the Colts, Shane Steichen in a pairing that Steichen hopes the utilize to revamp the Colts following the firing of Frank Reich during the 2022-2023 season.
Manning is actually a familiar face in Indianapolis as he served in the same role for the Colts under Frank Reich in the 2018 season. After helping to develop and promote some stellar play from the budding tight end group of Eric Ebron, Jack Doyle, and Mo Alie-Cox under Reich, Manning will be tasked with the same feat under Steichen with Kylen Granson, Jelani Woods, and Andrew Ogletree.
Scott Satterfield will now have to begin the search for a new offensive coordinator ahead of the Bearcats first season in the Big 12 conference, and with the beginning of the offseason underway, time is of the essence.
