Dan Skillings Plans to Leave Cincinnati Following Junior Year

During a Saturday interview with sophomore guard Dan Skillings, Wes Miller and the Cincinnati Bearcats got some disappointing news regarding the status of one of their future stars.

Skillings spoke on his future plans at Cincinnati during Saturday’s UC baseball game and mentioned the 2024-25 season as his last year in college basketball.

“This year coming up will be my last year, for sure,” Skillings said. “Then I’ll be going to the league. That’s been the goal.”

Skillings was one of the Big 12’s bright young stars last season and was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. The New Jersey native averaged 12.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game on 42.1% shooting from the field. His biggest game of the season came against Stetson on December 22nd, when he scored 29 points, grabbed 10 boards, and had one assist.

The 6-foot-6 guard committed to join the Bearcats in the Class of 2022 after being listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index. Skillings checked in as the nation’s 105th-ranked player, the 12th-ranked player at his position, and the second-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania.

Skillings believes that one more year in college will get him ready for the NBA, and hopefully for Bearcats fans, his junior season will help Wes Miller’s squad compete for a Big 12 title in 2024-25.
