NCAA Football: Texas Tech at Baylor

One of the best running backs in all of college football will be back for another season in the Big 12 in 2024 as Texas Tech’s Tahj Brooks announced on Monday that he’s gonna be in Lubbock for one more go-around next season.

Brooks made his announcement via Twitter on Monday morning, giving Raider Nation all the adrenaline they’ll need to get through the week.

Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire made a statement concerning Brooks’ return, who is more than happy to have No. 28 back for another year.

“This is an exciting day for our program with Tahj announcing his return for next season,” McGuire said. “From our conversations in recent weeks, it was clear that Tahj wants to leave a legacy here at Texas Tech and that a return for next season would help him do just that.

“Not only is Tahj one of the nation’s top running backs, but he is a phenomenal teammate and leader of this program.”

Brooks ranked fourth nationally and second in the Big 12 with 1,443 rushing yards this season, trailing only Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon (1,614). He’s also fourth nationally and second in the Big 12 with 120.2 yards per game on the ground. Brooks did lead the Big 12, and the nation with 91 forced missed tackles (per PFF) and 83 rushes for first downs (per PFF).

Getting Brooks back for another season will be a major boost for the Red Raiders offense which will look to improve in a big way after a down year under Zach Kittley in 2023.
