Eagles HC: Jalen Hurts is ‘Ripping It Like Every Other Week’

Former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts has been dealing with a shoulder injury that he suffered in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears and forced him to miss two games.

Although he started in a 22-16 victory over the New York Giants in Week 18, it was clear that the MVP finalist wasn’t himself. In that game, Hurts completed just 20 of 35 passes for 229 yards and one interception and just 13 yards on nine carries.

After getting a bye week as the first-seed in the NFC playoff bracket, Hurts got a second shot at the Giants last weekend and looked much better. In his third game against New York in the last four contests, Hurts completed 16 of 24 passes for 154 yards and two scores, adding nine rushes for 34 yards and a touchdown in route to a 38-7 win.

Now, with a game against Brock Purdy and the 49ers on tap, Hurts is feeling back to normal and has had all restrictions in practice lifted as the Eagles finish up preparations for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

“He is ripping it like every other week,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told media on Friday.

Hurts sure looked loose and ready to go during practice on Friday.

During his best NFL season to date, Hurts has completed 66.5% of his passes for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns to just four interceptions. What makes him so hard to neutralize though, is that he is capable of hurting you with his legs as well, rushing for 760 yards and 13 scores on 4.6 yards per carry.

Philadelphia and San Francisco will kick off on FOX at 2:00 p.m. CT on Sunday, with the winner advancing to Super Bowl LVII, where they will play the winner of the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals.
