Look: College Football 25 Has Already Hit $500M in Sales

EA Sports College Football 25

Leading up to the release of College Football 25, folks inside the building at Electronic Arts (EA) believed that the game would be popular and that if they hit $150M in sales, it would be a success.

While they may have been true, they’ll never have to wonder if that would’ve been the case or not, as EA Sports’ new title has blown those numbers out of the water less than two weeks after its official release.

According to Insider Gaming senior editor Mike Straw, the game has “significantly outpaced” the expectations laid before it, as EA had already hit $500M in sales as of Tuesday afternoon.

In an official earnings report from the company, EA reports that College Football 25 has seen 5 million unique players in the game in its first week, and another 500,000 people playing via the EA Play trial.

If you’re like me, you’ve been anticipating the release of a college football video game practically since the last one released in 2013, so these jaw-dropping numbers don’t really shock you all that much.

After all, a large portion of the fanbase willing paid nearly double the asking price of the game in order to play it four days before its official release.

“EA delivered a strong start to FY25, beating net bookings guidance as we continue to execute across our business,” EA Sports CEO Andrew Wilson said in the report. “Our focus on delivering bigger, bolder, and more connected experiences for our players has never been sharper and is illustrated by the record-breaking launch of EA SPORTS College Football 25 as we head into another historic Q2 sports season at EA.”

With CFB25 providing this generation of video game enthusiasts with their first taste of college football in over a decade, it’s safe to say that the bar has been raised significantly. It appears College Football 25 is set to thrive as the new standard for sports video games, and with proper updates and bug fixes, it could be around for a long, long time.
