When Baylor took its futuristic passing attack down I-35 to play Texas, nobody thought a 1950s-style slugfest would break out.
Relying on their running game, a dominating defense and superb special teams, the No. 7 Bears went old school to pull off a 28-7 win over the Longhorns before 93,727 fans Saturday afternoon at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Under heavy pressure by the Longhorns’ defense, Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty didn’t put up his usual otherworldly numbers. But Shock Linwood rammed his way for 148 yards rushing and the defense forced three turnovers as the Bears remained unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12.
